4038 Trifurcation of basilar artery

چکیده
Introduction The anatomy of the posterior circulation is very complex and variable. The basilar artery which forms the spine of posterior cerebral circulation usually terminates by dividing into two posterior cerebral arteries [1]. Basilar termination is the most frequent site of aneurysm [2]. The variations may also alter the relationships with and compress oculomotor nerve [3]. There are, however, few reports on variant termination of the basilar artery. These variations are related to the pattern of origin of superior cerebellar artery [4]. Trifurcation of basilar artery is very rarely reported and the knowledge of this variation might be important clinically in cerebelllopontine angle and clivus surgery.

AIM The basilar artery (BA) is the prominent median vessel of the vertebrobasilar circulation and usually terminates into two posterior cerebral arteries forming the posterior angle of the Circle of Willis (CW). To tackle different variations of CW, basilar artery acts as a guideline for neuroradiologists and neurosurgeons. Basilar termination is the most frequent site of aneurysm. Abnormalitie...
متن کاملBilateral trifurcation of brachial artery - a case report
Brachial artery Bilateral trifurcation Radial recurrent artery The variations in the arterial pattern specially in the extremities are common. The trifurcation of brachial artery into radial, ulnar and either common interosseous or median artery are found commonly, but radial recurrent artery as a third branch is very rarely reported. Here we are reporting a rare case of bilateral trifurcation ...
متن کاملTrifurcation of the Left Common Carotid Artery.
BACKGROUND Trifurcation of the common carotid artery is an unusual variation. CASE REPORT We report a case of left common carotid artery trifurcation in a 74-year-old man. The left common carotid artery divided into the internal carotid, external carotid and facial arteries. Herein, the anatomy of the carotid arteries and the Doppler sonography and CT angiography findings of the left common c...

Background: Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for left main (LM) trifurcation disease is a challenging field for interventional cardiologist. Triple kissing balloon technique (triple-KBT) is often necessary for PCI for LM trifurcation. However, there is no data available on clinical and angiographical outcomes of triple-KBT after drug-eluting stent (DES) implantation. Methods: We identif...
متن کاملTransradial Neurointerventional Approach to Basilar Tip Aneurysm: Case Report and Technical Note
Cerebral angiography through transfemoral approach is preferred in most of the situation though in cardiovascular surgery transradial angiography is accounted as the superior standard. The present study aimed at presenting our early experience of transradial approach to cerebral angiography and intervention of a patient with basilar tip aneurysm that had inappropriate vasculature to perform rou...
